A member works in a department. The department has one job that runs across the conference, and the members are the people who do it.
A member is staff. A member is Administrative Staff. See What is Administrative Staff.
A member is not a Student Officer. Student Officers are the Secretariat, the Chairs and the Managers. This is a description of what the role does, not a ranking of how much it matters. See What is a Student Officer.
What a member does depends entirely on the department. Registering delegates in the morning. Carrying messages between committees. Setting up rooms and running the sound and the screens. Editing resolutions. Photographing the ceremonies. Writing for the newspaper. Handling food. Selling merchandise.
The pattern is the same in every department. The manager plans the work and divides it. The members do it and report back.
In MEDIMUN, the departments are Admin Staff, Approval Panel, Food and Catering, Information Technology, Medinews and Social Media, Photography, Preparations, Public Information, and Sales and Funding. See Departments.
The Admin Staff department is not the whole of the administrative work. Its only responsibility is in-committee logistics. See Admin Staff.
Work is assigned through the conference platform. You can see what you have been asked to do, who asked, and when it is due.
In MEDIMUN, managers, the Secretariat and the executive board put all tasks in MediBook. If a task is not in MediBook, you are not required to do it. See Tasks.
If somebody senior asks you in the corridor. That is not a task. Ask them to put it in MediBook. That is not being difficult. It is how the conference keeps track of who is doing what.
If you are unsure whether a job is yours, ask your manager. If two people have asked you for different things at the same time, tell your manager rather than choosing between them yourself.
Being a member is a commitment for the whole conference, not for the parts of it you are free for.
In MEDIMUN, a member who does not meet the attendance policy does not receive a certificate. The attendance policy is full attendance, unless the executive board has agreed otherwise in advance. See What is expected of staff.
If you will miss part of the conference. Agree it with the executive board beforehand. An arrangement made in advance is the only kind that counts. Telling somebody afterwards is not an arrangement.
In MEDIMUN, a person without a MediBook account does not receive a certificate and cannot attend. See MediBook is required.
In MEDIMUN, the Members are drawn only from students of The English School, which is the school that organises MEDIMUN. See Becoming staff.
