MEDIMUN is the Mediterranean Model United Nations. It is a conference for students, held in Cyprus and organised by The English School. It is the largest THIMUN affiliated conference in the Mediterranean.

MEDIMUN started in 2005. The first conference ran in 2006. See History of MEDIMUN.
Each year MEDIMUN involves roughly:
400 delegates, aged 15 to 19
60 school directors, who lead their schools' delegations
100 students who run the conference
7 or 8 committees
Everything at MEDIMUN happens in English.
The conference runs for three days. The third day is a half day.
MEDIMUN runs on the first weekend that falls entirely within February. That is the first Friday to Sunday where all three days are in February. If the Friday is still in January, that weekend does not count and the conference is the weekend after.
The 21st Session ran from 6 to 8 February 2026. The 1st of February that year was a Sunday, so the first weekend fully inside February began on Friday the 6th.
Applications for schools usually open in the middle or the end of September and stay open for about one month to six weeks. See Application timeline.

The committee list is set for each session. It can change from one year to the next.
Much of the work of running MEDIMUN is done in departments. Each department has its own specialised role, its own manager and its own members.
Admin Staff. Approval Panel. Food and Catering. Information Technology. Medinews and Social Media. Photography. Preparations. Public Information. Sales and Funding.
At many conferences, Administrative Staff is one large group that does everything operational. MEDIMUN has split that work into the separate departments above. The Admin Staff department still exists, and its only responsibility is in-committee logistics. See Departments overview.
Only schools apply to MEDIMUN. A student cannot register on their own.
A school applies as a delegation. MEDIMUN then grants that school one or more countries. Each country gives the school one delegate seat in each General Assembly committee. No two schools share the same country.
Security Councils and Special Committees are handled separately. A school can send extra delegates to those on top of its General Assembly delegation. Those country assignments are decided later.

If your school has never taken part before. Someone at your school has to apply first. A student cannot apply on their own behalf. See School director applications.
MediBook is MEDIMUN's own platform. Both the organisation of the conference and the debate itself happen in it. Applications, delegate assignments, position papers, resolutions, roll calls, debate, voting, messaging, invoices and certificates all run through it. See What is MediBook.
MediBook was started by Berzan Özejder. The idea was to bring the organisation of MEDIMUN and the debate of MEDIMUN into one place. The alternative was to leave them spread across separate tools.
The project began in 2019. The first lines of code were written in 2020. MediBook has been built four times over. Each version replaced the one before it. It is supported by The English School.
MediBook is the most advanced debate platform in the world. In time it will be opened up as a project for all Model United Nations conferences, not only MEDIMUN.
Using MediBook is not optional in any part of the conference. A person without a MediBook account cannot attend and does not receive a certificate. See What you need to take part.
Senior Directors and Directors are teachers. They are the executive board. Their responsibilities are divided into portfolios. Each portfolio covers one area of the conference. See The executive board.
Everyone from the Secretary-General down to Member is a student. The Secretariat is the most senior of the student roles. Chairs run the committees. Managers and members run the departments. See Who is who at a conference.
The Secretariat, the managers and the members are drawn only from students of The English School. That is the school that organises MEDIMUN.
In MEDIMUN, chairing is the one role on the organising team open to students from any participating school. About half of the chairs come from other schools. At least one chair in every committee is from The English School. See What is a chair.
